MET 111 - Computer Aided Drafting I: Mechanical (Autodesk Inventor)

Prerequisite(s): CIS 120  (formerly offered as CS120) or documented proficiency with the past ten years

Corequisite(s): MET 101  and MET 105  are recommended

Course Description: Introduces students to the basic concepts of computer aided design (CAD) and drafting. These include but are not limited to: set-up workspace, sketches, features, and drawings. Working in both two- and three-dimensions as well as in solids, students will learn the operating system, command codes, file menu, and symbol library of an industry standard, computer aided design and drafting system.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  • CLO#1: Demonstrate simple sketches and extrusions.
  • CLO#2: Demonstrate ability to create industry level drawings.
  • CLO#3: Displays knowledge on 3D part model assemblies. (ILO: Critical thinking)
  • CLO#4: Determines which set of software tools will produce the desired results and understands the intent and the proper procedures for setting up the 3D CAD model and drawing.
  • CLO#5: Displays ability to use the design accelerator tools.
