Course Description: This course delves into the principles and techniques of hydrotherapy, utilizing various forms of water, including solid, liquid, and vapor. The course will cover essential safety issues and contraindications to ensure that hydrotherapy is administered safely and effectively. In addition to hydrotherapy, the course offers a thorough examination of various massage tools and their applications. Students will learn how to integrate these tools into their practice to enhance therapeutic outcomes. The course emphasizes hands-on practice, allowing students to develop practical skills and confidence in using both hydrotherapy techniques and massage tools.

Course Learning Outcomes:
 

  • CLO#1: Identify and describe thermal and physical properties of water (buoyancy, resistance, pressure, steam, and evaporation). (ILO: Communication)
  • CLO#2: Apply appropriate hydrotherapy techniques for pain control, injury rehabilitation, and relaxation based on clients’ needs and treatment goals.
  • CLO#3: Perform the proper techniques for using massage tools safely and effectively.
  • CLO#4: Explain the benefits, contraindications, and best use cases for different massage tools.
