AM 122L - Gasoline Engines Rebuild Lab

Course Description: A practical application of the theory taught in AM122. Identify major automotive engine types and designs. Disassemble an engine to measure, inspect, and determine functionality of engine components. Correctly reassemble an engine and confirm by operating the engine. This lab is taken concurrently with AM 122 .

Course Learning Outcomes:

  • CLO#1: Demonstrate departmental policies and shop safety practices, including those related to engines. 
  • CLO#2: Explain the basic function of the major parts of an automotive engine in relation to the four-stroke cycle. (ILO: Information Literacy)
  • CLO#3: Define common industry standard engine terms and basic classifications.
