MFG 122 - Machine Tool - Mill I

Prerequisite(s):  

MTH 60  or MTH 102CT  or designated placement, and MFG 102 , and MFG 116    

Course Description: The first class in a two-part series to development both an understanding of manufacturing concerns and limitations of industry as well as developing the hands-on skills needed for machining jobs in manufacturing.  This course continues and expands basic manufacturing skills and machine tooling practices. Continues emphasis on safety, bench work, vertical  mills, precision grinding, tool room operations, and production work through a series of projects.

Course Learning Outcomes:

  • CLO#1: Demonstrate safe and proper set up and usage of manual knee mill.
  • CLO#2: Accurately scribe layout lines and saw material.
  • CLO#3: Measure and accurately machine 1-2-3 blocks.
  • CLO#4: Measure and accurately surface grind 1-2-3 blocks to parallel, perpendicular, and square. (ILO: Quantitative Literacy and Reasoning )
