DA 201 - Dental Radiology

Prerequisite(s): Successful admittance to a Dental program.

Course Description: Prepares students for Dental Board Exams. Students will study the following sections: radiation safety for the patient, radiation safety for the operator, exposing and evaluating radiographs, and techniques used in performing a full mouth radiologic exam. Course is dual numbered as DH 204 

Course Learning Outcomes:
 

  • CLO#1: Describe and discuss the clinical operation of the X-ray machine. (ILO: Quantitative Literacy and Reasoning)
  • CLO#2: Identify anatomical structures, development anomalies, and disease of the oral cavity.
  • CLO#3: Describe standards for radiograph exposure and viewing, and explain their application in dental practice.
  • CLO#4: Describe the clinical management of patients and their dental records.
