DH 104 - Dental Materials 2 Credit(s)
Prerequisite(s):
DA 202 or DH 205 and successful admittance into the Dental Assistant program or the Dental Hygiene program.
Course Description: Introduces materials used in a dental office including impression materials, model and die materials, fabrication of dental trays, preventive dental materials, esthetic and restorative dental materials, amalgam, dental cements, waxes, and temporary restorative materials. Course is dual-numbered as DA 103 .
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1 Describe the legal standards that govern the properties of dental materials.
- CLO#2 Identify and compare the differences and uses for various dental materials. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
- CLO#3 Describe and explain the hazards associated with dental materials and chemicals including how hazardous materials must be safely handled and properly disposed.
