DA 103 - Dental Materials

Prerequisite(s):  

DA 202  and successful admittance into the Dental Assistant program.

Course Description: Introduces materials used in a dental office including impression materials, model and die materials, fabrication of dental trays, preventive dental materials, esthetic and restorative dental materials, amalgam, dental cements, waxes, and temporary restorative materials. Course is dual numbered as DH 104 

Course Learning Outcomes:

  • CLO#1: Identify the federal, state, and professional agencies and organizations that create the standards for the development, manufacture, safety, and use of dental materials.
  • CLO#2: Discuss the theory, composition and use of preventive, restorative, and prosthetics. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
  • CLO#3: Identify and compare the differences and uses for various dental materials.
  • CLO#4: Demonstrate use of a selection of dental materials with a student partner and in a laboratory setting.
