APR 216G - Millwright Industrial Pneumatics

Course Description: This course supports on-the-job training by providing the technical knowledge needed for a comprehensive understanding of industrial pneumatics. Through hands-on experience with a compressed air training unit, students will learn the practical applications of pneumatic systems, including air compressors, cylinders, directional valves (manual and electric), flow and pressure controls, fittings, piping, hoses, and more.

Course Learning Outcomes:

• CLO#1: Evaluate hazards in pneumatic systems and apply safety protocols, maintenance procedures, and strategies to ensure a safe workplace. (ILO: Information Literacy)  
• CLO#2: Describe theoretical principles underlying pneumatic control systems, including concepts of pressure, flow, and force, and their application in industrial settings. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
• CLO#3: Apply mathematical functions and calculations to solve pneumatic problems, reinforcing the principles of pneumatic systems and their operation.
• CLO#4: Identify the function of key pneumatic components, including air compressors, cylinders, valves, and regulators, and how they contribute to system performance.
• CLO#5: Interpret pneumatic schematics and use industry-standard symbols to enable communication and accurate understanding of system design.  
• CLO#6: Demonstrate troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve issues in pneumatic systems and components, ensuring optimal functionality.
