ED 221 - Instructional Strategies

Course Description: This course covers pedagogical theory, backwards design of unit and lesson plans, effective formative and summative assessments, and differentiation and engagement strategies with emphasis on the CTE classroom. The course provides a foundation for teaching in a project-based learning environment utilizing Oregon Knowledge and Skill Statements for programs of study.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  • CLO#1: Develop curriculum aligned with state standards in CTE using evidence-based instructional strategies. (ILO: Communication)
  • CLO#2: Create formative assessments throughout a curricular unit and respond to results to improve student learning. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
  • CLO#3: Create effective summative assessments for CTE courses.
  • CLO#4: Use evidence-based engagement and instructional strategies in the CTE classroom.
