Course Description: This course prepares students to provide immediate lifesaving care in emergency situations. EMRs are the first on scene, delivering essential interventions before Emergency medical Services (EMS) arrives. Students will learn patient assessment, CPR, bleeding control, airway management, and emergency response techniques through hands-on training and real-world scenarios. Designed for first responders, law enforcement, and workplace safety teams, this course meets national EMR standards and serves as a steppingstone for advanced EMS certifications.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1: Perform Patient Assessments - Conduct primary and secondary patient assessments to identify medical and traumatic emergencies, ensuring appropriate initial care in a simulated environment. (ILO: Communication)
- CLO#2: Demonstrate Life-Saving Interventions in a simulated environment- Apply CPR, bleeding control, airway management, and shock treatment techniques following current emergency medical guideline.
- CLO#3: Utilize Emergency Equipment - Operate essential EMR tools, including AEDs, airway adjuncts, and immobilization devices, in prehospital settings.
- CLO#4: Communicate and Collaborate Effectively - Relay critical patient information to EMS providers and coordinate with emergency response teams using clear, concise communication.
