DA 202L - Dental Infection Control Lab 1 Credit(s)
Prerequisite(s): Successful admittance to a Dental program.
Corequisite(s): DA 202
Course Description: Through hands-on / scenario-based activities, students will prepare for the following sections: patient and dental healthcare worker education, standard/ universal precautions and prevention of disease transmission, prevention of cross-contamination, maintaining aseptic conditions, performing disinfection sterilization procedures, environmental asepsis, and occupational safety. Course is dual numbered with DH 205L .
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1: Identify regulatory agencies that oversee workplace and safety standards. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
- CLO#2: Demonstrate waste management using green technology to include water line maintenance and hazardous waste disposal.
- CLO#3: Demonstrate occupational safety and infection control for dental personnel.
- CLO#4: Apply infection control techniques to ensure personal and patient safety in the dental setting.
