WR 117 - Writing for CTE Professionals

Course Description: WR117 focuses on writing in career and technical fields. It reviews the basic conventions of English, but centers on the types of reading and writing expected in professional trade settings and may be geared toward a particular trade field depending on the makeup of the class.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  • CLO#1: Express ideas in a clear and readily understandable manner following the conventions of written English. (ILO: Communication)
  • CLO#2: Use the appropriate voice and genre for work related written communication, such as emails, reports, orders, invoices, and project quotes.
  • CLO#3: Identify the layout and structure of industry texts, such as handbooks, manuals, and instructions.
