DH 201L - Dental Hygiene Practice IV 5 Credit(s)
Prerequisite(s):
Successful completion of the first year of the Dental Hygiene program.
Course Description: Advanced clinical procedures utilizing scaling and polishing techniques, oral inspection, cancer screening, dental and periodontal charting principles of ultrasonic scaling, plaque control instruction and fluoride applications. Advanced periodontal therapeutic treatment, with advanced use of radiographic findings and medicament use.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1 Analyze and describe the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic health.
- CLO#2 Identify and define periodontal diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
- CLO#3 Construct findings with the use of radiographics, to diagnose, and create a treatment plan. (ILO: Communication)
- CLO#4 Develop and apply clinical skills to exercise dental hygiene to the level of the “Standard of Care.”
