DH 200 - Oral Biology

Prerequisite(s): Successful admittance into a Dental program.

Course Description: Studies of histology and embryology of oral structural formation, clinical recognition of normal oral structures, the physiological and structural functions of teeth and supporting tissues, and oral anatomy to proper dental hygiene procedures.

Course Learning Outcomes:
 

  • CLO#1: Differentiate the structures and functions of the head and neck, including relevant terminology.
  • CLO#2: Assess the anatomical considerations for patient examination of the head and neck region. 
  • CLO#3: Summarize the stages of orofacial development.
  • CLO#4: Analyze and discuss the histology of the oral region. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
  • CLO#5: Describe and assess occlusion and the morphological detail of the oral anatomy.
