DH 103 - Dental Hygiene Theory III

Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of the first two terms of a Dental program.

Course Description: Introduces a full realm of dental evaluation, implementation, therapy and documentation.  Students will learn how to provide all dental hygiene care and diagnosis that falls within their scope of practice.  Students will also be introduced to specialty care provided by Dentists, and how to provide care to patients in different stages of life.

Course Learning Outcomes:
 

  • CLO#1: Describe and implement oral hygiene aids for the control of biofilm.
  • CLO#2: Demonstrate the use of hand and ultrasonic instruments, instrumentation on root morphology and dental implants.
  • CLO#3: Differentiate between home and office whitening procedures. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
  • CLO#4: Explain the properties and use of preventative dental materials.
