DH 101 - Dental Hygiene Theory I 4 Credit(s)
Prerequisite(s):
Successful admittance to a Dental program.
Course Description: Introduces the dental hygiene profession, fundamentals, concepts and processes to the student. Introduces evidence-based research to sustain health behaviors, while applying it legally and ethically.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1: Gather and document a client’s personal, dental and medical information.
- CLO#2: Evaluate the extraoral and intraoral clinical findings.
- CLO#3: Analyze oral findings to assess health risks and recommend treatment modalities.
- CLO#4: Correctly document diagnosis, care, and evaluation. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
- CLO#5: Create a treatment plan based on an oral-systemic health connection, using evidence-based studies and practice.
