Prerequisite(s):
MUS 131 or equivalent piano experience.
Course Description: Provides group instruction for beginning and intermediate piano. Focuses on the development of basic piano skills, note-reading, rhythm, scales, chords, and the introduction to related musical concepts. Contents and expected learning proficiencies of this course may vary from term to term. Course may be repeated for six credits total.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1: Develop and display basic piano skills.
- CLO#2: Demonstrate ability to read and play piano music of difficulty appropriate for skill level. (ILO: Communication)
- CLO#3: Develop ability to accompany simple songs by choosing appropriate chords and chord patterns.
- CLO#4: Demonstrate facility with simple scale patterns and chords using proper fingering and technique.
