MFG 101 - Introduction to Manufacturing 3 Credit(s)
Prerequisite(s):
MTH 20 or designated placement.
Course Description: This course is designed to develop an understanding of various manufacturing processes, materials, and possible career opportunities in manufacturing-related disciplines. The course includes an orientation to the use of Computer Aided design in manufacturing and various industry standard software programs. Students will learn about CAD, 3D slicing software, additive manufacturing procedures, CNC router and laser engraving.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1: Demonstrate safe and proper shop practices.
- CLO#2: Design a project using 3-D CAD.
- CLO#3: Input design into slicing software for printing preparation.
- CLO#4: Create design and laser engrave final project. (ILO: Communication)
