ED 225 - Child Development

Course Description: Explores child growth and development from prenatal through adolescence. Focuses on studying and observing the physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional aspects of the individual during this period. Examines principles and theories of learning. Formerly offered as ED165. Requires observing children in a classroom setting.

Course Learning Outcomes:

  • CLO#1: Describe the developmental needs of children prenatal to 18 years.
  • CLO#2: Summarize the multiple influences on development and learning.
  • CLO#3: Identify the major child development theories.
  • CLO#4: Explain how culture influences child-rearing practices and child development. (ILO: Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Global Consciousness)
  • CLO#5: Apply observation methods for all developmental domains.
