DDM 141 - Electronic Publishing II InDesign

Prerequisite(s):  

DDM 140  

Course Description: Emphasizes design and proper preparation of electronic pre-press files for print and digital production. Students will execute print and interactive projects for the web using advanced design and publishing tools in Adobe® InDesign. Students will also examine many advanced layout and printing techniques, multiple page document preparation and the proper methods for sending files to printers and online publishers. Additional lab hours required.

Course Learning Outcomes:

  • CLO#1: Demonstrate the technical and creative process of Electronic document assembly.
  • CLO#2: Demonstrate the complexities of working with process color, spot color, CMYK, RGB, as well as additive and subtractive color in file preparation. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
  • CLO#3: Demonstrate the differences and interactions between Adobe® Illustrator and Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat.
  • CLO#4: Manage time, material, and human resources to produce publications.

Typical Required and Recommended Equipment and Materials: Access to the Internet and a personal computer with Adobe Creative Cloud (or access to the college computer labs). Thumb drives, online backup storage.
