Successful admittance to a Dental program.

Course Description: Emphasizes prevention and treatment of the most common medical emergencies in the dental office. Covers the preparation of the office and staff to deal with these emergencies, including gathering patient information, such as a health history and vital signs. Discusses the use of emergency equipment and supplies. This course is dual numbered as DH 106 .
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1: Distinguish between the treatments of various emergency-related conditions.
- CLO#2: Identify patient groups at higher risk for medical emergencies.
- CLO#3: Identify causes of airway obstructions and demonstrate opening the airway.
- CLO#4: List the essential and non-essential components of an emergency kit in the dental office. (ILO: Information Literacy)
- CLO#5: Explain the significance of taking and accurately recording vital signs.
- CLO#6: Explain the various methods and the proper methodology for oxygen administration.
