DA 152 - Practicum for the DA I 6 Credit(s)
Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of the first two terms of a Dental program.
Course Description: Students are required to complete an average of 27 hours per week (up to 216 hours per term) as part of the dental team. Duties are assigned based on the student’s skill level and the needs of each site. Students gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of dental offices, working as chair-side dental assistants and front-office personnel. Throughout the sequence, students will progress from entry-level duties to mid-level and advanced responsibilities as appropriate.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1: Perform chairside assisting functions at both entry-level and advanced levels in a clinical setting.
- CLO#2: Accurately describe experiences and set personal goals based on instructor feedback and peer review. (ILO: Communication)
- CLO#3: Apply feedback from clinical staff to enhance professional skills.
