Course Description: This course covers the operation, installation, and troubleshooting of key aircraft systems including hydraulic, landing gear, fuel, environmental, and fire protection systems. It also explores avionic systems, their integration into flight operations, and troubleshooting methods for both analog and digital avionics. Students will learn airworthiness considerations, Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) specifications, and system bundling techniques, equipping them with the skills to maintain and repair critical aircraft systems for safe and efficient flight operations.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1: Differentiate between analog and digital avionics systems to support effective troubleshooting practices.
- CLO#2: Justify the installation of avionics systems in relation to operational requirements and constraints. (ILO: Communication).
- CLO#3: Explain the fundamental principles of hydraulics, including pressure, flow, and force transmission, as they relate to aircraft systems.
- CLO#4: Explain how landing gear is deployed, retracted, and locked, as well as the role of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems in landing gear operation.
- CLO#5: Summarize the purpose and operation of aircraft fuel systems, including fuel storage, delivery, and control systems.
- CLO#6: Outline the operation and function of both aircraft Environmental Control Systems (including air conditioning, pressurization, and ventilation) and Fire Protection Systems (including fire detection and suppression systems).

Length of Course: A required state minimum of sixty (60) and a standard RCC delivery of (66) lecture hours per term, not to exceed (72) hour per term.
