BA 120 - Human Relations in Organizations

WR 115  or higher-level writing course

Course Description: Using current research, lecture, class discussion, group activities, videos, guest speakers, and supplemental exercises to explore, evaluate, and understand common situations and problems in human relations for the organizational environment.  Among the issues covered are communications, group dynamics, self-awareness (communication styles, self-esteem, attitudes, emotions, and ethics), workplace diversity and inclusion, motivation, trust-building, self-disclosure, teamwork, and conflict management.

Course Learning Outcomes:

  • CLO#1: Define human relations.
  • CLO#2: Explain the importance of developing good human relations skills.
  • CLO#3: Identify how self-awareness, attitudes, motivations, communication styles, and values contribute to career success.
  • CLO#4: Compare and contrast strategies that support team building and conflict mitigation. 
  • CLO#5: Explain the importance of diversity and inclusion, practicing acceptance, and achieving emotional balance. (ILO: Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Global Consciousness)
