DH 271 - Periodontology II 2 Credit(s)
Prerequisite(s):
Successful completion of the first four terms of the Dental Hygiene program.
Course Description: Continues the assessment skills necessary in the treatment of patients with advanced periodontal disease. Provides ethical and clinical responsibility in periodontal disorders and the relationship of the specialty practice of periodontics within the broad scope of dentistry and the legal ramifications within.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1 Demonstrate and discuss the treatment plan process for the periodontal patient.
- CLO#2 Identify and apply the proper procedures for the presentation of a periodontal case that includes dental hygiene assessment and treatment planning. (ILO: Communication)
- CLO#3 Demonstrate and evaluate nonsurgical periodontal therapy and integrate the information into the clinical practice of dental hygiene.
- CLO#4 Measure and justify the benefits of surgical treatment of periodontal diseases.
