DH 102 - Dental Hygiene Theory II 4 Credit(s)
Prerequisite(s):
Successful completion of the first term of the Dental Hygiene program.
Course Description: Introduces dental hygiene assessment, diagnosis and treatment plans. Students will use critical thinking skills to gather health facts, document findings, assess oral health risks, and propose care plans.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1 Recognize and explain the importance of gathering and documenting a client’s personal, dental and medical information.
- CLO#2 Evaluate and assess the extraoral and intraoral clinical findings.
- CLO#3 Identify and differentiate the different oral findings, health risks and prepare proper treatment modalities.
- CLO#4 Demonstrate critical thinking skills and correctly document diagnosis, care, and evaluation. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
- CLO#5 Describe and create a treatment plan based on an oral-systemic health connection, using evidence-based studies and practice.
