DH 101 - Dental Hygiene Theory I 4 Credit(s)
Prerequisite(s):
Successful admittance to the Dental Hygiene program.
Course Description: Introduces the dental hygiene profession, fundamentals, concepts and processes to the student. Introduces evidence-based research to sustain health behaviors, while applying it legally and ethically.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1 Describe and discuss the legal standards that govern the practice of dental hygiene.
- CLO#2 Recognize, analyze and classify terms in the dental hygiene profession.
- CLO#3 Identify and compare the different uses for evidence-based research, and implementation of the research.
- CLO#4 Describe Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and the dental hygienist role in the patient’s whole-body health.
- CLO#5 Demonstrate the therapeutic communication techniques. (ILO: Communication)
