Course Description: This course is designed for students who have little to no experience with group circuit training and those who wish to adopt a more focused approach to their fitness regimen. It will introduce participants to the fundamentals of circuit training, emphasizing its benefits for enhancing overall fitness. The course will emphasize the benefits of safe, effective, and progressive strength training. Topics covered will include enhanced strength, muscle tone, increased metabolism, improved energy levels, and the reduction of depression symptoms. Each week, a new mode of fitness will be introduced or incorporated into an expanding circuit of exercises, which will rotate regularly. Every class will conclude with a cool-down session, stretching, and relaxation. Short lectures will cover the benefits of exercise, proper breathing and exercise execution, injury prevention and care, diet, physiology, major muscle groups, body terminology, and related health issues. Course is repeatable.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1: Demonstrate safe and easy exercises for the heart and entire body.
- CLO#2: Demonstrate improvement in body composition. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
- CLO#3: Identify major muscle groups, and explain proper and safe use.
- CLO#4: Develop and present routine or specific exercise for toning an individual muscle group, or present fitness-related topic.
Typical Required and Recommended Equipment and Materials: Workout clothes, court shoes and water.

Length of Course: A required state minimum of (30) and a standard RCC delivery of (33) lab (physical education activity course) hours per term, not to exceed (36) hours per term.
