Career Pathway Certificate

General Program Information

The Construction Apprenticeship Technologies, Trade Worker Apprenticeship Technologies Career Pathway Certificate is based on the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) Oregon State Apprenticeship Training Council standards and the local Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) related training requirements. The program combines full-time, on-the-job training with trade-related classroom instruction and is available only to BOLI-registered apprentices. Individuals interested in registering for an Oregon apprenticeship program should contact the Apprenticeship Office at ApprenticeshipInfo@roguecc.edu. RCC supports the following BOLI-ATD trades: Sheet Metal (7,200-hour trade); HVAC/R, and Plumbing (8,000-hour trades).

This certificate is a credential within Rogue Community College’s Construction Trades General Apprenticeship Pathway, providing statewide transfer opportunities, a ladder-type certificate of completion, and an optional pathway to a Bachelor of Science degree at Oregon Tech.

The certificate is earned entirely through apprenticeship core courses required by BOLI and the local Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee. These courses provide related training credits aligned to BOLI standards, college credit for earned journey-level credentials,  additional access to related training courses across the state for registered apprentices

Program Learning Outcomes

The curriculum in RCC courses is derived from a set of identified learning outcomes that are relevant to the discipline. Program Learning Outcomes for the Construction Apprenticeship Technologies, Trade Worker Apprenticeship Technologies Career Pathway Certificate are:

Complete 7,200 to 8,000 hours State of Oregon-approved on-the-job training (OJT).

Complete 576 to 766 hours State of Oregon-approved related training hours in the classroom.

Perform trade-specific skills and work processes in accordance with state apprenticeship standards.

Entry Requirements

Students are required to show documentation when applying that they meet the minimum requirements to apply to the desired Apprenticeship Program. Students are required to complete the Placement Process to determine skill level and readiness in math and writing. As part of their training program, students must begin with the courses within their skill level as determined by placement.

Advanced Standing

Coursework from accredited colleges and universities will be accepted in accordance with college policies and approval of the Department Chair. Credits earned in the successful completion of Career Pathway Certificates can be applied to other certificates and degrees in the Career Pathway.

Graduation Requirements

Students must complete courses with at least a “C-” or better grade and they must have at least a 2.0 program GPA. Certain courses are graded on a pass/no pass basis. A grade of “P” for these courses indicates a student earned the equivalent of a “C-” or better grade.

Students must also possess the appropriate Bureau of Labor and Industries Apprenticeship certificate and be recommended by the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee or Trades Apprenticeship and Training Committee. In order for coursework to apply to a BOLI Apprenticeship certificate, Apprenticeship courses must be completed with a grade of C or better. This certificate does not guarantee licensure.
