MUS 131 - Class Piano I

Course Description: Provides group instruction for beginning and intermediate piano. Focuses on the development of basic piano skills, note-reading, rhythm, scales, chords, and the introduction to related musical concepts. Contents and expected learning proficiencies of this course may vary from term to term. No previous piano experience required. Course may be repeated for six credits total.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  • CLO#1: Develop and display basic piano skills.
  • CLO#2: Read and play piano music of beginning to intermediate level with correct notes and rhythm.
  • CLO#3: Play all twelve major scales and accompanying primary chords using proper fingering and technique. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
