Prerequisite(s):
Admission to the Human Services program, or Instructor approval.
Course Description: Provides a general introduction to the field of Human Services and related helping professions. Invites students to explore their own biases, values, and beliefs as they relate to choosing Human Services as a profession and practicing in the field. Provides background and specific skills needed to select and succeed in the practicum placement required for completion of the Human Services Program.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1: Discuss the broad dimensions of the field of human services.
- CLO#2: Identify the essential skills that are required for effective and successful practice in the field of Human Services.
- CLO#3: Define the role of practicum in the Human Services program.
