APR 118A - Introduction to Sheet Metal

Prerequisite(s):  

Registered Apprentice with the South-Central Oregon Sheet Metal JATC.

Course Description: Apprentices will properly apply job site safety practices and show competence in the use of basic hand tools and power equipment to accurately lay out sheet metal seams, edges, locks, and connectors using simple blueprint design. 

Course Learning Outcomes:

  • CLO#1: Demonstrate adherence to OSHA standards both in the sheet metal fabrication shop and in the field.
  • CLO#2: Operate hand tools and power equipment required in the fabrication and assembly of sheet metal.
  • CLO#3: Accurately lay out basic sheet metal seams, edges, locks, and connectors using simple blueprint designs. (ILO: Information Literacy)
  • CLO#4: Create accurate 2-dimensional layouts using mathematical principles and blueprint interpretation.
