APR 129B - Aviation General II

Course Description: This course covers critical topics in aviation maintenance, including corrosion detection and removal, fluid lines and fittings, and non-destructive testing. Apprentices will learn proper use of hand tools and measuring devices, understand mechanic privileges and limitations, and apply human factors and risk management principles to enhance safety. This course ensures apprentices are equipped with the technical and safety knowledge required for effective aircraft maintenance and compliance with industry standards.

Course Learning Outcomes:

• CLO#1: Identify safe and effective methods for removing corrosion from metallic components using manual, chemical, and mechanical processes. (ILO: Critical Thinking)
• CLO#2: Explain the purpose and functions of fluid line systems in aircraft, including hydraulic, fuel, and lubrication systems.
• CLO#3: Explain the purpose of non-destructive testing (NDT) and its role in verifying the safety and integrity of aircraft components without causing damage.
• CLO#4: Identify appropriate hand tools commonly used in aircraft maintenance.
• CLO#5: Explain the role and responsibilities of an airframe and powerplant (A&P) mechanic in maintaining and repairing aircraft, ensuring airworthiness, and adhering to regulatory standards.
• CLO#6: Explain risk mitigation techniques to maintain a safe working environment.
