PRD 230 - CG Animation - Game Development 3 Credit(s)
Course Description: Introduces students to the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer-generated animation for interactive media and game design using Unreal Engine. Emphasis will be placed on the principles of animation and their application to biped and quadruped character motion, as well as the animation of props and environments. Students will explore foundational modeling and scene-building techniques while gaining experience in developing assets within a game engine.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1: Apply the foundational principles of animation to create believable motion for biped and quadruped characters within a game development engine.
- CLO#2: Animate characters and props using body mechanics principles that convey weight, balance, and intent.
- CLO#3: Create and integrate basic 3D models and animated assets into a game engine environment such as Unreal Engine. (ILO: Information Literacy)
- CLO#4: Communicate creative ideas and design intent through visual presentations and critiques. (ILO: Communication)
- CLO#5: Apply inclusive design principles that support diverse representation and accessibility in character and game art development.
