PRD 101 - Intro to Podcasting - Radio 3 Credit(s)
Course Description: Introduces students to the fundamentals of podcasting and radio production by integrating storytelling, audio editing, and broadcasting principles. Exercises include an introduction to the use of digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Audacity and Adobe® Audition, etc. Concepts in scriptwriting, vocal performance, interview techniques, sound design, and distribution strategies are covered. Additional lab hours required. The intent of this class is to provide a strong foundation in audio content creation, an understanding of industry standards. Mono, Stereo, and Dolby Atmos audio production and hands-on experience in producing engaging audio content. These experiences shall provide a working ability in podcasting and radio for students interested in broadcasting, journalism, media production, or personal enrichment.
Course Learning Outcomes:

- CLO#4: Apply fundamental audio recording, editing, and production techniques using digital audio workstations (DAWs) and recording equipment to create high-quality podcast and radio content.
Typical Required and Recommended Equipment and Materials: Access to the Internet and a personal computer with Adobe Audition/or other recommended DAW (or access to the college computer labs), Portable USB drives, and USB microphone.

Length of Course: A required state minimum of (60) and a standard RCC delivery of (66) lecture/lab hours per term, not to exceed (72) hours per term.
