DH 102L - Dental Hygiene Practice II 3 Credit(s)
Prerequisite(s):
Successful completion of the first term of the Dental Hygiene program.
Course Description: Advanced clinical procedures utilizing scaling and polishing techniques, oral inspection, cancer screening, dental and periodontal charting. Principles of ultrasonic scaling, plaque control instruction and fluoride applications. Introduction to early periodontal therapeutic treatment.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- CLO#1 Explain the importance of gathering and documenting client’s personal, dental and medical information.
- CLO#2 Identify and apply oral findings for proper treatment, including preventative and/or therapeutic recommendations.
- CLO#3 Select and design individualized oral and dietary behaviors for clients, using evidence-based knowledge. (ILO: Communication)
- CLO#4 Integrate classroom studies into the clinical setting, building upon each clinical practice to increase and refine skill sets.
